We are situated in the old county of Radnorshire which is now part of Powys in Wales. It borders England (The Marches) and adjoins the Brecon Beacons National Park. It has some of the most beautiful and unspoilt scenery in Wales.

In the Private Nature Reserves Group we are striving to maintain and improve the wildlife value of our beautiful landscape. We are mostly small landowners distributed all over the county. We are a group of like-minded people, willing to share our knowledge and experience with others.

We all care strongly about our environment and share concerns about the impact our modern world is having on the natural countryside.

We have very varied experiences - some of us are total beginners and new to our land, others have been owners and managers of land for many years.

We also have a great variety of habitats in our ownership, including permanent pasture, hay meadows, ancient woodland, clear-felled conifer forest, wetland, streams and ponds. In fact the type of land is not important. The important thing is our commitment to improving its biodiversity.

We aim to share and improve our knowledge. We hold meetings, working parties, open days, training seminars etc. We also have a regular newsletter. Many of us have learnt lessons from our mistakes which we would like to pass on to others.

We have all benefited from the mutual support and friendship that the group offers.

We welcome new members who are prepared to be actively involved in improving their environment. Smaller landowners who do not have the benefit of farming aid are particularly encouraged to join.

If you would like to join or find out more, do please contact us.
